Football: DPMM stage fightback to defeat Hougang 2-1 in S-League

SINGAPORE - Last season's S-League champions Brunei DPMM had to come back from behind to beat Hougang United 2-1 on Friday (Aug 26) at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

The victory extended Steve Kean's side's unbeaten run to six matches (four wins and two draws).

DPMM sit third in the nine-team table on 32 points, four points ahead of Hougang in fourth but the latter hold a game in-hand.

Croatian Stipe Plazibat opened the scoring for the Cheetahs in the ninth minute but a brace from the league's leading scorer Rafael Ramazotti (51st and 53nd) sealed victory for DPMM.

Hougang were the dominant side throughout the match, bombing forward to attack the Wasps' goal but individual errors in defence led to them conceding in quick succession.

DPMM did well to sit back and protect their lead. They pulled men behind the ball to combat the Cheetah's smooth attacking flow and held on long enough to clinch the win.

In Friday's other match, seventh-placed Warriors beat Garena Young Lions 5-2 at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium.
