Balestier Khalsa have won the Singapore Cup for the first time in their history after seeing off reigning champions and six-time holders Home United 3-1 at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Friday evening.

Goals from Croatian striker Goran Ljubojevic (14th minute), Korean midfielders Kim Min Ho (27th minute) and Park Kang Jin (89th minute) helped seal the historic victory for the Tigers, while the Protectors scored a consolation through Sirina Camara in the third minute of stoppage time in the second half.

Home's captain Noh Rahman was also sent off in the after receiving two yellow cards.

Both teams showed their attacking intent from the start but it was Balestier who drew first blood as Ljubojevic rifled a shot past Shahril Jantan, before Kim converted a penalty to make it 2-0.

They got a third after good work from Ljubojevic down the left set up Park to tap home into an empty net.

Home nabbed a consolation minutes later when Camara fired his penalty kick past Balestier goalkeeper Zaiful Nizam but it was not enough to ruin Balestier's night.
