The inaugural Epson Singapore Cup football tournament kicked off at Safra Tampines yesterday. Ten Under-15 teams competed in a round-robin format and eight teams progressed to the quarter-finals, which will take place next weekend. Besides the matches, the players also enjoyed a sharing session with Geylang International coach and former Singapore international Hasrin Jailani and Geylang midfielder Shahfiq Ghani. The winning team will get a training stint at the Valencia Soccer School in Singapore. Organisers had planned to hold a U-17 competition as well, but it was cancelled owing to a lack of entries.
