MOSCOW - The scenes were uncannily similar as close to 1,000 England fans - some with the St. George's Cross painted on their faces, one dressed as a knight, another in waistcoat and briefs - packed the stand behind the goal and sang long after the match was over.

They had done so after beating Sweden 2-0 in the quarter-finals at the Cosmos Arena in Samara last Saturday, and they were doing it again at the Luzhniki Stadium on Wednesday (July 11).
