Comeback wins for Balestier, Young Lions in SPL


Balestier Khalsa's Hazzuwan Halim tussling with Home United's Faizal Roslan in last night's Singapore Premier League (SPL) game at the National Stadium. The Tigers scored two late goals to claim a 2-1 win. Home took the lead through Hafiz Nor in the ninth minute before Vedran Mesec equalised in the 87th minute. Huzaifah Aziz scored the stoppage-time winner. Balestier moved to second place in the nine-team SPL table with 13 points from nine games - 11 behind leaders Albirex Niigata, who have a perfect 24 points from eight games. Home slipped to sixth with eight points from seven games. The Young Lions also staged a comeback win as goals from Ikhsan Fandi (58th) and Naufal Azman (79th) helped overturn Fabian Kwok's 49th-minute opener for hosts Hougang United. The Young Lions rose to fifth with 10 points from six games, while winless Hougang remained bottom with three points from eight games.
