Champions League founder a champion for the grassroots

Global sport has lost that rarest of human beings - an administrator whose word you could trust and whose integrity was unimpeachable.

Lennart Johansson died aged 89 in Sweden on Tuesday. He had risen from errand boy to head a Stockholm company that manufactures linoleum floorings, and at the same time, from volunteer at his beloved AIK Fotboll sports club in Stockholm to transforming the European football authority, Uefa.
