Causeway fans set to win SilkAir flights

Fans attending the Oct 7 Causeway Challenge between Singapore and Malaysia could have a good time well beyond the 90-minute football clash.

They stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes, courtesy of SilkAir. The regional wing of Singapore Airlines announced its sponsorship of the Challenge yesterday.

The airline is giving away three pairs of return economy-class tickets to one of its new destinations - Vientiane and Luang Prabang in Laos, and Fuzhou in China.

The winners of the lucky draw will be announced at half-time. Only ticket holders are eligible to take part.

As the official airline sponsor of the Causeway Challenge, SilkAir will also offer exclusive fares for this collaboration. Customers can unlock the fares by entering the promo code "JOYTOFLY" at silkair.com between Sept 7 and Sept 30.

This year's clash is the 65th between the two sides. Malaysia hold the edge with 22 wins while Singapore have won 19, and there have been 23 draws. The Lions' Fifa ranking is 159, eight places ahead of Malaysia (167).

The last time the two sides met was in 2014 during the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup. The Tigers beat the Lions 3-1 at the National Stadium and knocked the defending champions out of the tournament in the group stage.

• Tickets (Cat 1: $28 and Cat 2: $18) are available from www.sportshubtix.sg from noon today with a 25 per cent discount for early birds (till Sept 12). Concession rates are also available.
