Football: Singapore march on at AFF U-19 Championship with 3-1 win over Philippines

Singapore continue to go strong at the Asean Football Federation Under-19 Championship in East Java, beating the Philippines 3-1 on Wednesday.

With four points from two games, Singapore currently top the five-team Group A.

First-half goals from playmaker Mahathir Azeman and defender Jeffrey Lightfoot followed by a 76th-minute strike from in-form forward Hazim Faiz edged them closer to a semi-final spot. The Filipinos grabbed a consolation through Nikko Ralph in injury time.

Dejan Glusevic's charges, who had opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Timor Leste, next face Laos on Friday.
