Football: Singapore fall to Iraq 1-2 at the Asian Youth Games in Nanjing

Singapore's Asian Youth Games football squad fell to Iraq 1-2 in the opening match of their Group B play-off in Nanjing on Tuesday.

Striker Ikhsan Fandi, son of Singapore football great Fandi Ahmad, scored in the sixth minute to give the Republic the lead at theJiangning Football Training Base.

But Iraq fought back, and clinched the game with two goals from Mohamad Alshammari in the 31st and 43rd minutes.

Singapore will next take on Kuwait in the 16-team tournament on Thursday.
