LONDON (AFP) - Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique will be out of action for around 10 weeks after undergoing knee surgery, the English Premier League football club announced on Monday.

The 27-year-old Spaniard, who signed from Newcastle United in August 2011, has not started a game for his club since their 3-1 victory against Crystal Palace on Oct 5.

"Liverpool Football Club can confirm that Jose Enrique has successfully undergone arthroscopic surgery to resolve an issue with his right knee," read a statement on the Liverpool website.

"Enrique is expected to return to full training at Melwood in around 10 weeks' time."

Jon Flanagan deputised for Enrique in Liverpool's 3-3 draw with Everton on Saturday, while manager Brendan Rodgers can also call upon Frenchman Aly Cissokho at left-back.
