The LionsXII have qualified for the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals after a 3-1 win over Kedah in Alor Star.

Played before a capacity 32,000 crowd at the Darul Aman Stadium, V. Sundramoorthy's men weathered some early pressure before taking the lead in the 24th minute. Midfielder Hariss Harun sent the visitors' bench in a frenzy when he glanced home winger Faris Ramli's cross.

The lead was extended in the 39th minute when centre-back Baihakki Khaizan rammed the ball into the roof of the net after defensive partner Safuwan Baharudin had nodded down Shahfiq Ghani's free-kick. Although Kedah's Alen Guc halved the deficit in the 45 minute, Hafiz Abu Sujad restored the LionsXII's two-goal cushion with a 25 metre piledriver in the 66th minute.

With the win, the LionsXII finished second in Group D with 10 points, behind Sarawak, who thrashed Perak 6-1 in the group's other game, on goal difference. The Singapore side will face Group A winners ATM.
