The LionsXII may be Malaysian Super League champions but their Malaysia Cup hopes are fading fast.

After a 0-1 defeat by Perak in Ipoh on Tuesday, they are at rock bottom of Group D, with just one point from their opening three fixtures.

It took the hosts just nine minutes to grab what turned out to be the only goal of the night.

A scorer the last time the two sides met in June, Brazilian Paulo Rangel this time turned provider, flicking Nasir Basharuddin's long throw on for strike partner Azlan Ismail to bundle the ball home from close range.
