The LionsXII retained their four-point lead at the top of the Malaysian Super League (MSL) after a hard-fought 1-1 draw with their nearest league rivals, Johor Darul Takzim.
After falling behind at Jalan Besar Stadium in the ninth minute, the hosts poured forward in the second half and were finally rewarded when Safuwan Baharudin slammed home after a goalmouth melee in the 82nd minute.
The Lions started with defender Shakir Hamzah replacing the suspended Baihakki Khaizan in central defence, and the 20-year-old mishit a clearance in the ninth minute, and Johor's Leonel George Nunez pounced on the error to score.
After a lacklustre first half, the Lions emerged from their half-time talk a transformed side, stringing slick passes together and laying siege onto the Johor goalmouth.
However, they failed to find the back of the net until eight minutes from the end, as Safuwan reacted fastest in a goalmouth melee to spin and slam home the equaliser.
While the Lions remain unbeaten at home, they lost their perfect record, having won all their previous home games this season.
Both teams have three matches left to play before the season ends. The Lions will next face Perak away.
