After the high of winning the Malaysian Super League (MSL), the LionsXII were dumped out of the Malaysia Cup in the quarter-finals after a 4-1 hammering by ATM in Selayang.
Dangerman Marlon James is the chief tormentor with a hat-trick that gave the Malaysian military football side a 4-2 aggregate win.
In a disastrous display, the LionsXII's collapse started in the 22nd minute when midfielder Hariss Harun sliced the ball into his own net after James' cross from the right.
The 1.88m-tall striker then pounced on a defensive error from Baihakki Khaizan, evaded a tackle from Safuwan Baharudin before slotting past Izwan Mahbud in the 32nd minute.
Hafiz Abu Sujad gave the Singaporean side some hope with a piledriver from 30m out four minutes after the break.
But 36-year-old James blasted a ferocious free-kick from a narrow angle that beat Izwan at his near post to extend the hosts' lead.
And the striker completed his hat-trick eight minutes later when his tame shot from outside the box was deflected past Izwan after a wicked deflection off Isa Halim.
LionsXII coach V. Sundramoorthy is expected to resign from his post after this defeat and join Negeri Sembilan, who have been relegated to the second-tiered Malaysian Premier League.
Hariss (Johor Darul Takzim), Baihakki (Johor FA), Safuwan (T-Team) and Shahril Ishak (Thailand Premier League's Bangkok Glass) are also expected to sign for new teams.
