A stellar year for LionsXII defender Baihakki Khaizan was duly rewarded when he picked up the Best Defender accolade at the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) annual awards in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday afternoon.
The 28-year-old was a rock at the back for the Singapore outfit, who conceded just 15 goals in 22 matches en route to lifting the Malaysian Super League title.
"This award is dedicated to all my team-mates, coaches, officials and backroom staff, as they played a major role helping me to be where I am," said Baihakki, who will play for big spenders Johor Darul Takzim next season.
Pahang coach Dollah Salleh, who led his side to Malaysia Cup glory, edged out LionsXII coach V. Sundramoorthy for the Best Coach award. Kelantan's standout skipper Mohd Badhri Radzi claimed the Most Valuable Player gong.
