Football: Injured Marek Hamsik ruled out of Napoli's trip to Borussia Dortmund

MILAN (AFP) - Attacking midfielder Marek Hamsik has been ruled out of Napoli's Champions League trip to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday after suffering a foot injury against Parma, the Italian Serie A side said on Sunday.

Slovakian Hamsik came on as a late substitute against Parma on Saturday but was forced off just nine minutes later after suffering the knock.

Napoli said in a post on Twitter that Hamsik had suffered a "serious knock on his left foot" and "is not included on the squad list for the Borussia-Napoli (game)".

A late goal by former Inter Milan striker Antonio Cassano stunned Napoli 1-0 to hand Parma a precious away win and leave the southerners in danger of dropping to fourth place later on Sunday.

Rafael Benitez's men will be looking to regroup ahead of a trip to Dortmund, where a draw will be enough to send them into the knock-out stages ahead of their final Group F game at home to Arsenal on Dec 11.

Napoli currently sit second on the same points as Arsenal, who have a superior goal difference, but have a three-point cushion on Dortmund, who face Marseille away in their final group game.
