Football: Going topless to draw eyeballs to the S-League

The S-League has decided to try something new to capture the attention of Singaporeans.

A group of 10 players, as well as league chief Lim Chin, went topless and had their upper bodies painted in the colours of S-League club jerseys for a walkabout along Orchard Road on Sunday afternoon.

Lim said: "We wanted to do something different instead of setting up a stage in the middle of a shopping centre. I hope Singaporeans will come out and support their very own league."

While some onlookers cast curious glances, others stopped to take pictures with the colourful contingent, which included Tampines Rovers goalkeeper Sasa Dreven and Balestier Khalsa striker Patrick Paran.

The new season kicks off with the Charity Shield clash between S-League champions Tampines Rovers and Singapore Cup holders Warriors FC on Feb 15 at Jalan Besar Stadium.
