DORTMUND, Germany (AFP) - Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund would welcome back Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa should the Manchester United star wish to return to the Bundesliga.

"The door is always open for Shinji," Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told

German daily Bild on Thursday. "But at the moment, it's not a subject up for discussion for us."

Kagawa recently stirred the waters by telling Japanese television Foot Brain that, after an unsatisfactory first season at Old Trafford by his standards: "One day I will return to Dortmund, if they agree to it."

Kagawa joined United for ¤16 million after helping Dortmund win the German league and cup double in the 2011-12 season, but his agent Thomas Kroth says a return to Borussia is not imminent.
