Football club Atletico Madrid woo Singapore fans

Hello, Singapore!

Atletico Madrid star striker Radamel Falcao has recorded a video for local football fans ahead of the club's trip here next month.

Along with team-mates like vice-captain Tiago Mendes, striker Adrian Lopez and midfielder Arda Turan, the Atletico players smiled for the cameras and greeted fans here.

Atletico will play a Singapore Selection at the Jalan Besar Stadium on May 22.

Tickets, priced between $15 and $50, went on sale on TicketBooth yesterday morning.

The European Super Cup holders and 2012 Europa League winners will be in town to show their support for the Singapore Olympic Foundation (SOF) and the Peter Lim Scholarship (PLS) fund.

They will be in Singapore even though they have two Spanish Primera Liga fixtures left to play after their date in the Lion City.

Andy Yun, director of match promoter 3X, said: "All the players, including Falcao, are fully committed to this trip to Singapore. Atletico made this commitment due to the club's friendship with Peter Lim."

This could be one of the Colombian's final appearances in the red and white of Atletico before he makes an anticipated transfer, with English Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City his possible destinations.

Atletico are 16 points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona in third place. They will play Granada at home tomorrow.
