Fame Star, one of the most improved horses at Kranji, led all the way in the $400,000 Group 2 EW Barker Trophy for his first success over 1,400m.

The John O'Hara-trained four-year-old American-bred, whose six previous victories were all over 1,200m, including his last four starts, showed guts and tenacity to stave off another up-and-coming sprinter Grand Koonta by a head.
