When Roanne Ho touched the wall at the end of her race last night, she paused for a second before looking at the scoreboard across the pool.

"I was like 'please, give me a best time'," the 25-year-old recalled in the bowels of the Optus Aquatic Centre, giggling as adrenaline still coursed through her veins and water dripped from her clumped hair.
