Cycling: OCBC's Ho Jun Rong hopes to last the distance at Pro Crit race on Friday

HE MAY have been eliminated in his last two appearances at the OCBC Cycle Singapore Professional Criterium, but Singaporean Ho Jun Rong is determined to last the distance at Friday's race.

Said Ho, 23, who is the only local rider in the 90-minute circuit race to be held at the F1 pit building: "It's always a thrill to compete in front of family and friends at our home race. The Professional Criterium features some of the world's finest cyclists and I will do my best to represent Singapore well in the race."

Ho, who will be accompanied by OCBC Singapore Continental Cycling team-mates Rico Rogers, Mitchell Mulhern, and Cameron Bayly, knows they face a huge task against some of the world's best, such as two-time Olympic gold-medallist Ed Clancy and 2013 Omnium world champion Aaron Gates.

The competitors will race under the F1 floodlights for 90 minutes around a 1.7km circuit. Those who are overlapped by the front pack will be eliminated.
