Cycling: OCBC's Eric Sheppard seizes yellow jersey at midway point of Tour of Thailand

OCBC Singapore Pro Cycling's Australian rider Eric Sheppard finished second in Stage Three of The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's Cup Tour of Thailand on Thursday, giving him the lead in the general classification standings.

The 22-year-old Australian was pipped by the Chinese Taipei national team's Feng Chun-kai in a three-man sprint finish, but all three riders were credited with a time of 4h 36min 36sec.

Sheppard thus claimed the yellow jersey at the midway point of the six-stage race, and also vaulted from ninth to fifth in the sprints classification standings. He also won the only King of the Mountains climb of the day.

OCBC's Singaporean rider Goh Choon Huat secured another top-10 finish for the team, coming in seventh to mark his sixth career top-10 finish. The OCBC Singapore Pro Cycling team now has 10 stage podium finishes so far this season on the UCI Tour.
