SINGAPORE - Sandpaper can be a lot rougher than most people think. Just ask former Australian Test cricket captain and TV commentator Ian Chappell about its long-lasting effect.

A piece of sandpaper was infamously deployed in the ball-tampering episode last month that saw three cricketers - captain Steve Smith, vice-captain David Warner and opening batsman Cameron Bancroft - sent home to Australia during the tour of South Africa.
