Douglas Creek sticks out his scarred and misshapen right hand for a better view. It is the hand that he learnt to shoot with at the age of 12, the hand that he depended on when representing his home city of Newcastle in competitions across New South Wales.

It is also the hand that was mutilated in a horrific accident on Norfolk Island 14 years ago.
