GOLD COAST (Australia) - It was a comprehensive defeat for the Welsh women's doubles pair by Australia and as the four paddlers shook hands around the table on Friday, the announcer singled out one player for praise as the spectators cheered loudly.

Anna Hursey looked sheepish as she acknowledged the applause. She and team-mate Chloe Thomas might have been on the wrong end of an 8-11, 2-11, 2-11 scoreline but Anna's presence at the Commonwealth Games has hogged the headlines despite Wales bowing out of the team competition.
