SINGAPORE - Reigning Commonwealth Games champion Teo Shun Xie emerged as the new SEA Games winner of the women's 10m air pistol individual champion at the Safra Yishun range on Sunday.
The 26-year-old scored 199.0 points in the final, ahead of silver-medallist Klaisuban Pim-On of Thailand (196.7). Vietnam's Nguyen Minh Chau settled for bronze with 174.4 points.
Singapore's Nicole Tan, last SEA Games' women's 25m pistol champion, finished fifth in the final with 134.1 points. Teo and Tan will be competing next in the women's 25m pistol event on Thursday at the National Shooting Centre.
In the men's 10m air pistol final, Vietnam shooters claimed both gold and bronze medals, while Malaysian shooter Jonathan Wong clinched silver.
Tran Quoc Cuong secured Vietnam's second shooting gold with a score of 197 points, beating his long-time teammate, Olympian Hoang Xuan Vinh, who scored 178 points.
Said Cuong, 41: "We take turns to win, best friends and best rivals."
Singapore's representative Gai Bin finished eighth with 76 points.
