Singapore bowler New Hui Fen won her second gold medal at the 23rd Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships after beating South Korea's Son Yun Hee 270-193 in the women's masters step ladder final on Monday evening.

New, who had struck gold in the trios event last week, qualified for the stepladder finals in first place, after notching 4,038 pinfalls from 16 games in qualifying.

Son, who was second with 3,730, took on Malaysia's Sin Li Jane, who finished third with 3,675, in the step ladder semi-final. The South Korean, who is a double gold medallist at the Incheon Asian Games last year, promptly defeated her Malaysian opponent 225-162.

In the final, Son, who had to win two straight matches to clinch the gold, beat New 240-208 in the first match. But the Singaporean rebounded in the decider to secure her second gold medal.

Singapore have two golds and one silver from the championships, which ended on Monday.
