SINGAPORE - National bowler Shayna Ng won the women's Open step-ladder final at the China Open on Wednesday evening, beating teammate Cherie Tan 223-205 for the trophy in Shanghai.

Ng takes home the winner's cheque of 30,000 yuan (S$6,174), while Tan receives 18,000 yuan for finishing runner-up.

Ng had qualified for the step-ladder finals as the top seed, having gone through the qualifiers in top position with a score of 1,295 pinfalls over six games in the second round of the finals.

Tan qualified for the step-ladder finals as the third seed, beating Indonesia's Sharon Limansantoso and Tannya Roumimper with a score of 199 (versus 167 and 194 respectively) to ensure an all-Singaporean final two.

Tan's younger sister Daphne missed out on the step-ladder finals - reserved for the top six bowlers - when she finished in eighth place in the second round.

The Hao's Bowling Centre will next host the QubicaAMF World Cup from Oct 14-23. Singapore will be represented by Bernice Lim in the women's event while Norman Cai will fly the flag for the men.
