Kegler Daphne Tan picked up Singapore's first gold medal at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Incheon, South Korea on Monday.
The 22-year-old overcame a field of 54 bowlers from 20 countries to come out tops in the women's singles.
Tan defeated China's Chen Dongdong 182-167 in the final of the tournament, where Singapore last won a bronze medal in 2009.
Mohammad Jaris Goh faced a tougher scrap in the men's singles quarter-finals, falling 226-257 to top seed Kim Jun Yung of South Korea.
The Games continue on Tuesday with the men's doubles.
