Bowling: Cherie Tan finishes 2nd at World Cup, losing decider by just 2 pinfalls

SINGAPORE bowler Cherie Tan finished second at the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Krasnoyarsk, Russia on Saturday. It is her best-ever finish at the World Cup.

The 25-year-old beat two-time world champion Aumi Guerra 2-0 in the semi-finals, before taking on 2009 champion Caroline Lagrange in the final.

In the best-of-three final, Tan lost the first game, but a run of four strikes from the sixth to ninth frame saw her take the second match to level the scores.

In the nail-biting title decider, it was Lagrange who emerged victorious 215-213, after Tan hit an open fourth frame.
