The legendary David Beckham, one of the most recognisable faces in the world, made a surprise appearance at the Asean Para Games football five-a-side match between Singapore and Thailand at Marina Bay Sands yesterday. It ended in a 5-0 victory for the Thais but the Singapore players were nonetheless thrilled that Beckham, here to support Sands for Singapore, MBS' corporate social responsibility programme, turned up. "It was a surprise. We're honoured to have someone like him coming down to watch us," said captain Tee Wee Leong.
