Los Angeles (AFP) - Forward Blake Griffin has opted out of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers and will become an unrestricted free agent next week, US media reported on Friday.

Point guard Chris Paul is expected to follow Griffin into National Basketball Association (NBA) free agency next week, but the moves were expected and there is a chance both will remain with the Clippers.

Paul, who averaged 18.1 points and 9.2 assists per game, is expected to be pursued by the San Antonio Spurs, while Oklahoma City Thunder could make a pitch for Griffin.

Five-time All-Star Griffin averaged 21.6 points and 8.1 rebounds last season, but has been plagued by injuries over the past three seasons.
