NBA: DeMarcus Cousins punishes former Sacramento Kings team-mates, Blake Griffin's buzzer-beater ensures LA Clippers' fine start

(THE SPORTS XCHANGE) - DeMarcus Cousins totalled 41 points and 23 rebounds in his return to Sacramento as the New Orleans Pelicans rallied for a 114-106 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday (Oct 27).

Cousins, who heard a mix of boos and cheers in pre-game introductions, shot 14-of-23 and came within one of his career high for rebounds.

Jrue Holliday added 20 points while reserve Jameer Nelson contributed 18 as the Pelicans won without Anthony Davis (knee) by overcoming a 19-point deficit.

Blake Griffin hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Los Angeles Clippers to a dramatic 104-103 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Clippers had five double-digit scorers, led by Griffin with 25 points.

Centre DeAndre Jordan grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds to go with seven points.

Marc Gasol scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Memphis Grizzlies held off a furious rally by the Dallas Mavericks to win 96-91.

Mike Conley scored nine of his 22 points in the fourth quarter for the Grizzlies.

Robin Lopez scored 16 points as the Chicago Bulls beat Atlanta Hawks 91-86 for its first win of the season.

David Nwaba added 15 points while rookie Lauri Markkanen collected 14 and 13 rebounds for the Bulls, who dropped their first three games.
