Basketball: Slingers hold off Kaohsiung Truth with 84-76 win at OCBC Arena

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Slingers withstood a late charge from the visiting Kaohsiung Truth to record a 84-76 victory at the OCBC Arena on Sunday (Feb 26).

The host had led 46-32 at the interval but were sloppy in the second half and allowed the Taiwanese franchise to reduce the deficit late in the fourth quarter.

But led by forward Xavier Alexander, who finished the game with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists for a triple double, the Slingers held on for the win.

With the result, the Slingers have consolidated their second-place position in the Asean Basketball League and improve their record to 11-5.

They remain 1.5 games behind leaders Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions, who had earlier defeated basement outfit Westports Malaysia Dragons 88-85 in Kuala Lumpur.

The Lions lead the six-team ABL with an 11-2 record.

The Slingers next game is against Saigon Heat next Sunday at the OCBC Arena.
