SINGAPORE - The Singapore Slingers fell 72-90 to Westports Malaysia Dragons in Game 3 of the Asean Basketball League (ABL) Finals at a fully packed OCBC Arena on Friday night.
The Slingers struggled to maintain any form of momentum throughout in front of the 2,505-strong crowd. Though they managed to cut the lead to four points early in the final quarter, Xavier Alexander's fouling out with six minutes to go effectively spelled the end of the Slingers' comeback.
Dragons' centre Reginald Johnson was in irresistible form, leading the overall scoring with 34 points. He was ably backed up by Calvin Godfrey (21) and Matthew Wright (16), while Wu Qingde led the Slingers with 19 points.
The crucial victory means the Dragons now lead the series 2-1, making Game 4, which will be played at the same venue on Sunday, a must-win for the home team. Tickets are available at http://www.sportshub.com.sg.
