Basketball: Miami Heat's Bosh skips Toronto trip after daughter's birth

MIAMI (AFP) - Miami Heat star forward Chris Bosh did not join the defending NBA champions on Tuesday for their game at Toronto following the birth of his daughter on Monday.

The Heat gave Shane Battier his first start of the season in place of Bosh, who played for the host Raptors from 2003-2010.

"I feel like I'm 10 ft. Tall right now! Very happy to welcome another child to the world! #proudfather #BoshFamily" Bosh posted on his Twitter page.

Bosh is averaging 19.8 points and 6.8 rebounds through the first week of the NBA season. The Heat split their first four games of the campaign.
