TEXAS (AFP) - Marcus Camby, the 2007 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, has signed a free agent contract to rejoin the Houston Rockets, the team announced on Monday.
The 39-year-old centre averaged 7.1 points and 9.3 rebounds in 19 games with the Rockets in the 2011-2012 season after being traded from Portland.
Houston traded Camby to the New York Knicks last July and he averaged 1.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 24 games with the Knicks last season.
The Knicks traded him to Toronto earlier this month and he was waived a week later in a salary cap move by the Raptors, who originally drafted him second overall in 1996.
Camby led the NBA in blocked shots in four seasons, including three in a row from 2005-2006 through 2007-2008.
Camby has career averages of 9.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocked shots in 973 games with the Raptors, Knicks, Rockets, Denver, Portland and the Los Angeles Clippers.
