Basketball: Holders China knocked out of Asia C'ships by cross-strait rivals

MANILA (Xinhua) - China's defending campaign was snapped on Friday after the title holders were shocked 78-96 by arch-rivals Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals of the Asian men's basketball championships.

The result rounded off a poor tournament for the continental giants, who had already lost to Iran and South Korea in group play.

In an earlier match, Iran thrashed Jordan 94-50. In later last-eight ties, hosts Philippines take on Kazakhstan while Qatar face South Korea.
