A relapse of an old back injury has forced paddler Yu Mengyu out of this month's World Table Tennis Championships in Budapest and weakened Singapore's chances of winning any medals.

Yu and teammate Feng Tianwei had claimed a bronze in the women's doubles at the last edition in 2017 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
