Sandpaper can be a lot rougher than most people think. Just ask former Australian Test cricket captain and TV commentator Ian Chappell about its long-lasting effect.

A piece of sandpaper was infamously deployed in the ball-tampering episode that saw the Australia captain Steve Smith, vice-captain David Warner and opening batsman Cameron Bancroft sent home from the tour of South Africa last month.
