Athletes are driven by a force within, but parents are vital because they clear the road for them. To help their kids they write cheques, wake up early and sometimes just stand in line. Today, we look at the sacrifices some parents have made.

In his daughter's work ethic, David Chua had seen the signs.
He had seen kids at a badminton class cut short their 45-minute cool-down and saunter off after 10 minutes but Grace, a primary school pupil then, would keep going till the finish. He had seen her finish two practice sessions some days and still keep training.
