A few years ago while researching a story on artistic swimmer Debbie Soh we met at the Toa Payoh pool for a photo shoot. Hold on, she politely said. Make-up was being applied.
Gelatin in her hair. Lipstick. Glittery eye shadow. Thick layers of water-resistant stuff. Much of it exaggerated because the judges sit at a distance, maybe 15m away.
