A string of diving and swimming world champions will be in town next month.
China's Peng Jianfeng and Wang Han will headline the Nov 3-5 Fina Diving Grand Prix in Singapore, before the likes of South African Chad Le Clos, Hungarian Katinka Hosszu and Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom are in action at the Nov 18-19 Swimming World Cup. Both events will take place at the OCBC Aquatic Centre.
Peng, 23, won the men's 1m springboard title at the World Championships in Budapest in July while Wang, 26, took the mixed 3m synchronised springboard title with Li Zheng.
There will also be divers from Britain, Australia, Russia and North Korea, while Singapore are represented by SEA Games medallists Mark and Timothy Lee, Jonathan Chan and Myra Lee.
Le Clos is the reigning 200m butterfly world champion while Hosszu captured her third straight 200m/400m individual medley double in front of her home fans this year. Sjostrom, Sweden's first female Olympic swimming champion, won three world titles (50m freestyle, 50m and 100m fly) and set two world records (50m, 100m free) in Budapest.
After a 19-gold haul at the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games, the Republic will enter close to 40 swimmers, led by Quah Ting Wen, Amanda Lim, Roanne Ho, Pang Sheng Jun and Danny Yeo.
National head coach Stephan Widmer said: "This kind of experience will provide our own swimmers, coaches and officials with vital learning opportunities to grow individually and with others."
Singapore Swimming Association's vice-president (diving) William Lee added: "The fans are in for a breathtaking experience as they see the artistry of these world-class divers somersaulting through the air right here in Singapore."
Tickets for both events are available at www.sportshubtix.com, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium box office and at all SingPost Outlets.
