Americans' recent relay woes

The United States have won 15 of 24 Olympic titles in the men's 4x100m, but have failed to secure a medal since Athens 2004. Their last major silverware was the 2007 world title in Osaka.

In this time, they have made a mess of baton passing.

2016 RIO OLYMPICS

Stripped of their bronze after Justin Gatlin receives the baton from Mike Rodgers before the exchange zone.

"Pressure! Pressure!" said Jamaica's Asafa Powell about the latest American flop.

"I think they were more focused on beating us than running a proper race. So, yes, it's the pressure of beating Jamaica."

2015 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

2012 LONDON OLYMPICS

2011 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Fail to finish the final in Daegu, South Korea as, going into the final hand-off, Darvis Patton clips Britain's Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and falls. Anchor Walter Dix never receives the baton.

2009 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Disqualified in the heats after Shawn Crawford fails to pass the baton to the anchor runner Patton inside the box, as they head for the home straight in Berlin.

2008 BEIJING OLYMPICS

Disqualified in the heats after Gay drops baton.
