Workers stranded 200m in the air at Marina Bay condo rescued

SINGAPORE - Two workers stranded about 200 metres in the air were rescued by the Singapore Civil Defence Force(SCDF) on Wednesday night.

The lifting platform of an equipment the workers were on malfunctioned, leaving them suspended while working atop high-rise condominium The Sail @ Marina Bay.

The platform was extended out of an equipment called a hydraulic gondola, which is permanently based on the rooftop of the excecutive condominium.

The Straits Times understands that the workers were doing some maintenance works.

A rescue device called a Power Ascender was used to transport the stranded workers back to the rooftop, said an SCDF spokesman. The workers then took the passenger lift down to safety.

No one was injured in the incident.
