A new work group for the proposed High Speed Rail link has been formed by the Malaysia-Singapore Joint Ministerial Committee for Iskandar Malaysia, said a statement released by the Ministry of Transport on Saturday.
This after the committee held a meeting on Friday at the Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club at Nusujaya Malaysia.
The new work group will discuss and jointly recommend requirements for the proposed High Speed Rail link. It will also submit recommendations to both the Singapore and Malaysia governments for the next phase of the High Speed Rail link, which was first mooted by the Prime Ministers of both countries in February this year to facilitate travel between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and enhance business linkages.
The ministerial committee also reviewed the progress made by the transportation work group on the Singapore-Johor Bahru Rapid Transit System link. The committee will agree on an option for the rapid transit system by the end of next year.
