SINGAPORE - A Singaporean man has been arrested for the alleged murder of a woman who was found dead in an Ang Mo Kio flat on Thursday.

Police had received a call for assistance at 12.33pm. Upon arrival, officers found the body of a 30-year-old woman lying motionless in the unit on the ninth floor of Block 406, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.

She was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

Police cuffed a slim man dressed in a long-sleeved black shirt with dyed hair and led him out of the unit before driving him away. The 40-year-old man, who had abrasions on his left cheek and forehead, was arrested for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The Straits Times understands that the woman was found dead in the bedroom, and no weapons were found. She is believed to be a foreigner but her nationality remains unknown.

Police officers were also spotted outside the switch room at the foot of the block. Officers had earlier bagged belongings from the unit and carted them away. Investigations are ongoing.
