An 85-year-old Singaporean woman was found dead on Tuesday evening in her unit at Springdale Condominium along Hindhede Walk in Bukit Timah.
The police were alerted to the case at 5.23pm, and the woman was pronounced dead by paramedics at 6.27pm.
A 24-year-old woman, believed to be a maid from Myanmar, was subsequently arrested in relation to the case.
The police have classified the case as murder and investigations are ongoing.
The Straits Times understands that a condominium security guard found the victim lying motionless on the floor of one of the rooms, with bloody wounds on her upper body.
She lived with other family members, but they were not at home when the incident happened.
The maid is believed to have been working for the victim and her family for about a year.
Residents of the condominium interviewed by The Straits Times said that they noticed many police officers in the compound from about 6pm, but did not hear anything earlier that suggested something was amiss.
