Budget debate kicks off

MPs will raise concerns on various issues when the Budget debate begins today. Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat will respond on Thursday, after which Parliament will form the Committee of Supply to debate the ministries' budgets. The sitting will end on March 10.

Service to honour YMCA's ex-chief

A thanksgiving and memorial service will be held at the YMCA of Singapore today to honour the late Dr Robert Loh, its longest-serving president.

Dr Loh, a pioneer ophthalmologist, was the organisation's president from 1970 to 1992. He died last month, aged 91.

Corporate reporting: Last day for some

Today is the final day of corporate reporting for companies with financial years ending on Dec 31.

Despite the tough economic conditions in the last quarter, the results have generally exceeded expectations and underpinned a buoyant stock market.
